SANDY EXPECTED TO BRING LIFE-THREATENING STORM SURGE FLOODING TO THE MID-ATLANTIC COAST...INCLUDING LONG ISLAND SOUND AND NEW YORK HARBOR......WINDS EXPECTED TO BE NEAR HURRICANE FORCE AT LANDFALL...

1. Port Condition Yankee set for both COTP zone of Long Island Sound and COTP Zone NY/NJ. Gale force winds from Hurricane Sandy are predicted to make landfall within 24 hours.

2. Necessary preparations should be completed with haste (but safely). Members continue to report preparations and status. One member offered the reminder to consider the resources in the boat crew SAR vest as potential safety and survival items in severe conditions.  

3. Members and units are encouraged to continue reporting status as this storm system progresses.
 

4. Updated weather tracking information will follow this report for as long as is practicable. 

5. The next full status update is scheduled for0800 29 October 2012, unless pressing new information is captured.
